Your Favorite Celebrities in Velvet

If you thought that velvet was just for home decor and theatre curtains, you’re in for a surprise. Velvet is making its way into the hearts and minds of the masses as a fashion item, evidenced by the many celebrities that are now embracing various velvet-adorned fashions.

Velvet was once considered a winter wardrobe material, which is now changing as well. Today, you can wear velvet dresses, skirts, tops, shoes, and pants nearly year round. Once thought to be the fabric of nobility on the one hand or a choice for those who have an eye for the dangerous side of life on the other, velvet now appeals to a wider audience as well. From nighttime connections to the glamorous red carpet to a more casual ensemble, velvet is the perfect choice for a wide range of occasions and personalities.

In the past few years, we are increasingly seeing more and more celebs step out in velvet attire nearly year round. A few examples include:

Victoria Beckham was recently spotted in New York, stepping out in a mint green velvet skirt. Beckham complimented her skirt with a crisp white shirt and a pair of strappy black heels.

Kate Hudson was seen wearing a daring purple and black velvet daytime blazer, teamed with a silk blouse and distressed blue jeans.

Jessica Chastain modeled a spring velvet dress in a plunging Alexander McQueen gown at the premiere of her new movie, The Zoo Keeper’s Wife. The dress features a forest green backdrop with black velvet superimposed blooms and a gold lining.

Model Alessandra Ambrosio was spotted wearing a brilliant blue Ralph Lauren velvet coat outside the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show fitting.

Katy Perry wore a black and white asymmetrical jumpsuit with velvet detailing to the Capital Records honorary ceremony.

A pregnant Blake Lively attended a luncheon at the Cannes Film Festival in May honoring filmmaker Woody Allen. Lively wore a velvet marigold-colored dress with spaghetti straps. The dress was paired with Jimmy Choo sandals, diamond earrings, and a small clutch purse.

Kourtney Kardashian recently hit the town in a full-length black velvet jumpsuit. The jumpsuit featured pinstripes and a teardrop cutout, which Kardashian also matched with a velvet choker.

Celebrities aren’t the only people who are wearing velvet. This timeless material has become mainstream once again, with some choices that range from the understated to the daring. If you want to wear velvet clothing, you have choices among items such as velvet blazers, pants, skirts, tops, and dresses. There are also velvet accessories like purses, shoes, and even jewelry.

Velvet is no longer limited to craft items or interior design. If you want the feel of luxury on your next excursion, investigate the many velvet fashion choices that are now available.
