Tips For Essential Oils In Your Home

Essential oils can be a great addition to the home and aren’t just useful as a beauty related product – here are a number of more practical uses for them.

Tip #1: A Natural Carpet Deodorizer

To make a natural carpet deodorizer, mix a cup of baking soda with six drops of essential oil such as lavender or orange oil. Mix the content well and add them to a shaker – a parmesan cheese container will do the trick here. Sprinkle the solution all over the carpet and leave it for fifteen minutes. The baking soda will help absorb funky smells while the essential oils will deodorize and freshen your carpets. Next, vacuum as usual. Here are some more natural carpet deodorizers.

Tip #2: Plug-In Air Freshener Refill

You have seen those glass plug-in air freshener containers, right? Don’t throw them when they are empty. You can refill and use them again. Remove the wick with a sharp knife. Fill the reservoir with one of your favorite essential oils. Add half oil and half filtered water in it. Shake it well and replace the wick and plug-in the device as usual. It will not only help save money but enhance your health and wellbeing too. Some of the best oils for this purpose is peppermint, lemon, orange, and cinnamon. Be creative and test different mixes. See what combinations that you can come up with.

Tip #3: Homemade Fabric Freshener

Spray fabric fresheners are some of the nicest things to use in your homes. But did you know that you can make these yourself without much trouble? If you make them yourself, you also have control over the ingredients used in them. Here is how to make your own fabric freshener. Get a sixteen ounce, empty spray bottle, one teaspoon of baking soda, and open your case for essential oils, pick your favourite and add ten drops of essential oil. Mix the essential oil and baking soda with a fork in a small dish. Add this mixture to the spray bottle and top it off with two cups of water. Make sure you shake the mixture before using it. You may use one of your favorite essential oils or try a different combination. You can’t go wrong at all. In fact, if you like the scent, you already have a winner.

Tip #4: Mold Killer

If you have mold in those little cracks and crevices in your tub area and shower, you can use tea tree oil to kill and destroy the mold. Mix a teaspoon of tea tree oil in a cup of water and pour the mixture into a spray bottle. Spray the affected areas and let it dry. Do not wipe out the mixture, and it will do the trick of destroying the mold.

Tip #5: Furniture Dusting Spray

Why not make your own furniture spray instead of using aerosol sprays. It saves money and is a much healthier alternative. Here is the recipe. Take two teaspoons of olive oil, half teaspoon of lemon oil, half cup of vinegar, and a cup of filtered water. Mix them in a spray bottle. Now start spraying it.

Tip #6: Antibacterial Room Spray

You can make your own room spray with essential oils. You will save the ozone as well as money in the process. Just mix ten drops of your favorite essential oil in a cup of filtered water and add the mixture into a spray bottle. Spray the mixture every time you want a fresh scent in your room.
